Congratulations!
You are part of an NAEYC Accredited Program!
The
National Association for the Education of Young Children administers the
largest and most widely recognized accreditation system for all types of
early childhood programs and child care centers. NAEYC is the nations
largest organization of early childhood educators.
In the 20 years since NAEYC Accreditation was
established, it has become a widely recognized symbol of high quality in
early childhood programs. Simcha
Preschool is the only NAEYC Accredited program in Aptos, and one of only 9
Accredited programs in all of Santa Cruz County.
The NAEYC created its accreditation program in 1985 to
set professional standards for early childhood education, and to help
families have access to high quality childcare and early education
programs. These standards are based on the 12 Principles of Developmentally
Appropriate Practice, as defined by the NAEYC. These principles are
detailed in our Simcha Education Philosophy handbook, and available to
families at any time.
To earn the NAEYC's Accreditation, we conducted a
self-study to determine how well we are meeting the standards of
developmentally appropriate practice in the areas of teacher - child
interactions, curriculum planning, environmental set ups, meals,
professional development and health and safety. A validation visit was set,
and we were observed last September, with results being reviewed by a
national panel. Our re-accreditation notification came last Friday, with an
expiration date of July, 2010.
Simcha is proud to be an accredited program, recognized
for our commitment to reaching the highest professional standards. If you
have any further questions or would like more information on the
accreditation process, you can go to www.naeyc.org, or request a
copy of our Simcha Education Philosophy Handbook, to read about the 12
principles of developmentally appropriate practice.
