Take a Look at our ClassesIt is wonderful to see the transformation of the children as they move from Toddler Class, through Preschool and finally into the Pre-K classroom. Each room at Simcha has a general schedule of events, but they also love the opportunity to take field trips. Toddler ClassThe toddler classroom is all about respecting the unique ways each of us explores the environment. Learning becomes relevant and exciting when each child is empowered to make their own choices as to what has meaning. All behaviors expected by the teachers are demonstrated to the children. The children are encouraged to do things themselves or at least try. The mastery of self care, self regulation, self expression through language acquisition lead to the discovery of "self" in social context. When children enter the toddler classroom it's "me, me, me" and "mine, mine, mine." Hopefully, when children leave the classroom, it's "ours, ours, ours" and "us, us, us." "Working together, being friends" is our classroom motto.
Preschool ClassIn the Preschool class children learn more about problem solving, nature, science, mathematics, cooking and reading, in fact just about any topic, through play. Children have the opportunity to explore different sensory materials such as water, sand, play dough, clay, and dirt. Teachers continually take the time to extend children's play through conversation and open-ended questions, engage children in discussion about their ideas and how to implement their ideas in a safe manner.
Pre-K ClassOur child-centered Pre-K program at Simcha Preschool is a respectful, engaging, and developmentally encompassing learning community. Teachers actively support each child's social, emotional, spiritual, physical, and cognitive growth. We take the time to listen to each other, learn from each other, and celebrate the joy of learning!
Field TripsField trips are planned throughout the year to help children learn about the community they live in and to expand their learning through investigating specific topics. Everyone enjoys these trip, whether it is a visit to the local library, a pizza palor or the firestation.
