Simcha Preschool proudly announces their second annual Kids' Music Concert, Carnival and Cook-Out with popular local band Oren and the Hiccups on Sunday, May 31st, 2009. The event runs from 10:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., with the hour-long concert beginning at 11 o'clock. The event will be held in the social hall of Temple Beth El at 3055 Porter Gulch Road in Aptos to raise money for its preschool program. Family activities such as a bounce house, face painting, cupcake decorating, carnival-style games, a raffle/silent auction and refreshments also are planned. Tickets are $5 for kids under 12 and $10 ages 12 and older, under 2 free. Purchase tickets at the gate or call 479-3449.
This year's concert also features the Hiccups' amazing Bubble Machine - adding a crowd-pleasing 100 bubbles per second to this fun, family-friendly concert. The band's original songs tells stories from a child's perspective: picky eaters can identify with "Broccoli" or toddlers can sing about toddling (and stumbling) in "Uh Oh". Other songs use lyrics that are fun for everyone to sing ("Lippa Layta" and "Nicka Nicka Neigh"). "The best part of their concerts is the music is so playful and silly everyone wants to get up and dance and sing-along. This is really a concert for everyone," adds Pam Perkins, mother of two and an avid "Hiccuper."
Nick, Jr. magazine ranked Oren and the Hiccups' album Turn Around the Sun as "Five stars out of five" for children: "Just the right mix of melody and playfulness to go over big with the six and under set....The band's rock delivery and song-writing talent tip the scales to the hip side." The album Turn Around the Sun also was designated a 2007 Parents' Choice Approved award winner.
Great music and a fun family-friendly event for a great cause - all in one place on May 31st!
